Return of the 100 page giant?

Reading the post on making cheaper comics got me to thinking about cheap reprints. What if the publishers were to reprint the previous months issues into a giant size monthly reproduction? For instance, one reprint would feature the JLA and characters from the JLA that have solo books such as Flash, Wonderwoman, etc. Batman could have a reprint title of all his books plus have a Batman Family reprint. Same for X-titles and Avengers.

 

I would like to read other titles but my budget does not allow, but if I could get reprints cheaply, I would probably buy something I normally would not go for. Your diehard completionists would still get their runs. Plus, I just miss big issue comics and I would pay 5-6 dollars on a comic if it had 4 stories in it. I like TP, but I still like the pamphlet format. Just something about the flimsy, glossy covers that TP's can't match.

Marvel has actually done some 100pg books over the last couple of years. I'm not sure, overall, what impact the format had on sales.
