Ok, I think I've got this one figured out...

 

There's a copy for $50 with no bids that is COA #0016.

 

Now, this guy has COA #1645.

 

Since we all know that the COA indicates the "rarity"... you know, like 1645-to-1,

it's clear that #1645 is over 100 times more valuable than COA #0016.

 

Since 100 times $50 is $5,000... voila, the scientific basis for the sale price.

 

I used the same logic when I put up a signed comic with COA #999999

as the collateral for the Hope Diamond.

 

It's just so SHINY!!!
