JLA Artist Joe Benitez at Chelmsford, MA, Comic Show Dec. 9th

CHELMSFORD, MA - Larry's Comics welcomes DC/Top Cow artist Joe Benitez to the Chelmsford Comic Book Show on Sunday, Dec. 9, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Benitez rose to fame as artist on such Top Cow hits as "Magdalena," "The Darkness," and "Weapon Zero" before joining the ranks at DC Comics. His work can currently be seen on the hit "Justice League of America" series, featuring the world's most recognized superheroes.

The Chelmsford Comic Show, which has earned a reputation as one of the best small-town shows in America, is organized by Larry Doherty, owner of Larry's Comics in Lowell, MA. Past guests have included some of the hottest names in the industry, including Ethan Van Sciver, Billy Tan, and Rags Morales, and Doherty is looking forward to hosting Benitez's first area appearance.

"Joe has never met the New England fans and he is quite excited. He will have a lot of original artwork for sale and is offering commissioned sketches," said Doherty. "His convention sketches are amazing. And wouldn’t it be swell to get your JLA #13 signed by the man?"

Joining Benitez on the guest list will be Craig Rousseau, artist on such titles as "Batman Beyond," "Impulse," and "Harley Quinn." He is currently working with writer Todd Dezago on their fan-favorite creator-owned title, "The Perhapanuats," which will relaunch early next year from Image Comics.

The Chelmsford Comic Book Show will also feature raffles throughout the day for some awesome prizes. The grand prize will be lunch with Benitez, during which the superstar artist will produce a custom sketch for the winner.

The Dec. 9th show will feature top dealers from all over New England, offering a wide selection of over one million comics from the Golden Age to the hottest new releases, hard-to-find action figures, toys, Heroclix, non-sports cards, statues, minibusts, collectibles, anime, and other pop culture ephemera. It will be held on Sunday, Dec. 9, at the Radisson Hotel and Suites, located at Exit 34 off Interstate 495 in Chelmsford, MA. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and admission is just $5. The convenient location features plenty of free parking.
