Against the Dehumanization of Art

Sorry, I should have entitled the thread with at least a 50% OT disclaimer.

 

But even so, relative to comic art, my point would be that representational art, specifically the figure (rather than say Kirby tech & such --- which we could call "design"), which is such a large part of comic's illustration, trumps the more so-called sophisticated fine art known as Modern Art with which Mr Helprin takes such strong issue.

 

I'd take an excellent Kirby over a cubist's piece if given the choice (ignoring fiscal considerations).
