Innocent question from a newcomer:

 

I see lots of apparently intentional mizzpellings of words with what ought to be double esses in them

 

What is the history of this?

I see lots of apparently intentional mizzpellings of words with what ought to be double esses in them

That's called "masking". The board software is set up to censor profanities, so if you try to type "a-hole", for instance (go ahead, try it . . .) it will appear as "*spoon*" lol

 

You've prob'ly also wondered why the word "spoon" appears so much, right?
