CGC 10.0 WOLVERINE Limited Series # 1

In a few months, it will be the 5 year anniversary of when the 1st and only WOLVI Limited Series # 1 CGC 10.0 sold for $3550 on eBay.

 

I had the opportunity to briefly virtually chat with the winning bidder not too long after this and from what I could tell I do not think he was planning on selling it and if I was betting would say the same guy still owns it.

 

Remember the market was much different then; we are talking old school red labels. What do you think this slab would fetch today now that CGC has gone mainstream and everyone has jumped on the proverbial band wagon + the movie under works??

I have no idea what it might hypothetically sell for, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if he made a profit.

Dunno if it would get $3550 or not. GPA says a 9.9 sold last month for $1550 so I doubt a 10 would fetch $2000 more. It would just depend on who was watching the auction.

But five years ago, a CGC 9.9 would sell for maybe next to half of $1550

It's by far the most submitted book to CGC and still only a lone 10.0. I think if the owner were to sell today, he'd hit 5K easily.

That is kind of what I was thinking as well especially with some of the heavy hitters that recently have emerged into the slabbing industry.

Maybe I am wrong here but I really feel that a book to be a 9.9 or 10.0 really needs to have White Pages only.

 

First seeing that book in the old red label is bad enough, but then seeing it with cream to white pages, man thats just does not look right.

I divested myself of most of mine with the exception of my 9.9 copy of Betty Page #1.

$2500 today- that $1550 is PS which i think means Preposterous Salesmanship- book in 9.9 has consistently sold for $800-900 for years.
