Actually already "spoke" to him. He is a golden age collector just getting into the high grade silver keys and supposedly (I believe him) the high bidder "pushed" his bid to that. If you look at the way the bidding went it would seem right. He wasn't sure if the book was priced right so he wanted to do some research.

Acutally, I was thinking about that when I first started reading this thread Rube. These nimrods think they're doing no harm with their ultimately fake bids, but they skew the whole process. If you have two bidders trying to outbid each other for a desired book, taking one of them out of the picture would significantly reduce the final sell price, I would imagine.

Good luck!

You do not need to imagine. As I read the post the best legitimate bid for the book is $5666. That is now the best bid for the book until another copy really sells.

Well yes that is the way it looked. BUT the book is obviously worth more then that and I have had 3 offers to buy the book at the price I asked. Another 6 months the book will be worth $9k anyway as there are dealers with the same grade book asking for $9200-$9700 right now.

Thanks

I have listened to pros sing me the same story about stocks over the years. "The market will be 10% higher in a year, etc, etc". Sometimes they were right. Sometimes they were wrong by a lot. Unless you have a ouija board and can forecast the future I question the certainty of your call. I know very little about comics but quite a bit about stocks since that is my business. I tell anyone who has traded for me the following. " If you find the game is easy it's time to sell. You must sell on the way up because there will not be any bids that are attractive on the way down". I hope you fare better than those that have told me not to worry because they can spot a top. I'm fortunate because I only have one customer and she thinks I have some ability. Good luck to you.

In analyzing this bid history you're ignoring the fact that this was a reserve price auction.

Of course no one can tell the future, BUT the history of high grade books speak for itself. Even if you go back only a few years and before the CGC craze the books continued to increase in value based on supply and demand. Every time you think a specific book has "topped out" you see or hear of another increase. So if I was a gambling person I would bet that though they might not increase at the same rate, they will probably increase in value as years go on.

Not trying to start the crash theory (haven't seen a really sign of it yet) but:

Just like the stock market that AVERAGES 10% or a long period of time.

And then you get a few years where it AVERAGES 20%.

History just proved that the years after that are WELL BELOW the AVERAGE (i.e. negative years).

Well in comics, the addition of CGC and eBay created a huge AVERAGE increase in price for NM books.

You draw your on conclusions.
