PLEASE GRADE THIS SPIDEY 1

28 posts in this topic

I could see it getting a F- hm If it was mine I would probably still grade it a VG/F in hand though

it's not mine- metroplois has it on teir site as a raw 6.5 and they won't budge on the price--which is too bad cause i would expect it to CGC at 5.5 --

i can see a strong arguement for a 5.0 due to the lentgh of the crease for sure- if i bought that book and certified it at anything less than a 6.0 i would get killed at the price they are asking. the colors and right edge of book are sweet though!

4.5...just can't go higher with that sub crease.... :sorry:

as i recall frank at metro said the crease is front cover only and only goes down to the word balloon- i don't know how it got there but certainly wouldn't be a typical subscription crease.

Yeah, I don't think it's a sub crease, and it's probably not as noticeable in hand.

Come to think of it, is there even such a thing as a sub crease on a #1? I mean, who would even know the book was coming out and pay for a subscription?

for that price you could find a better copy."Patience be with you my friend"

thanks- i offered $4000 once but no dice! At the time it was the highest i would go but i've thought of offering $4500 -doubt they would accept anyway. Told Frank i think it would certify lower but he just said that's just one "opinion" - I agree but its a very well respected opinion and the consensus here is they have overgraded this book! No wonder its been on their site for over a year!

Personally, I'd call it a 5.0. If a book had a color-breaking corner crease of the same length, I couldn't see it reaching Fine (let alone Fine+). Rules is rules! Very attractive book though.
