The only real defect is a crease on the LLFC:

7.0 - looks exactly like an ASM #9 I once won on eBay that I thought the right edge had been trimmed on after comparing to another copy when in hand (looked fine in the scan and the price was too good to pass up). The edge was okay but it was 7.0 App with SP due to a "small amount of glue" on the spine.

Thanks Guys for the input! I'm thinking it's an 8.0 or 8.5. I only notice about 4 defects-LLFC, URFC and 2 spine tics...

I have noticed that this particular Batman book pops up in a lot of different threads.

Why is it so highly regarded?

Is it the cover, inside story, artist or all three?

Just curious.

Collectors in the past couple of years have gone gaga over this Neal Adams coverswipe of Detective Comics 31. This issue is also tough to find in high grade.

Nah, this one has one or two more dings than your 9.2 TOD #2 - so I guess that would mean a Nik 9.0 = $400+ book?
