Congratulations on getting another page for your fight sequence. There is nothing quite like that feeling of getting that hard to find page that you've been seeking for quite some time -- isn't there?

Please do post the pictures after they have been framed and up on your wall.

Best regards.

hi Stephen,

I haven't used anyone before, but another collector suggested I contact Gordon Cristman.

I'd be open to names of other conservation specialists who are good with OA in case Gordon is booked up.

What's your experience with conservation, if any?

Steve

You Should definitely look into:

Alvarez Fine Art Services

29 West 36th Street #1102

NY NY 10018

212-244-5255

They've worked on a number of pages for me (mostly Silver Age Kirby stuff) and I could not

believe what a great job they did...pages came back white when before they were yellowed, took care of glue and dirty removal...overall A++

Hey how was Belize? Mrs. Rhino and I haven't been there, but we're avid divers, so it's on the list. Do you dive?

Belize was fantastic. We had such a good time that we are planning on going back next year. We also went to Guatemala and visited Tikal and that was really something.

I do not dive, but we did some great snorkeling near Caye Caulker and based on how that was I imagine that the diving would be outstanding. It's the 2nd largest reef in the world and the water is crystal clear with tons of marine life.

Oh man, we'd love to hit Tikal. Do you have some pics? If so send some along. Tromping around those old Mayan ruins makes you feel like Indiana Jones, doesn't it? lol

I'll check out Caye Caulker. I have some friends from Boston going to Belize this summer. He's a diver and she's not, so they want to find some places that both will enjoy. Sounds like that'd be a great candidate. Thanks for the tip (thumbs u

Yes, it felt very adventurous. We went at 6:00 AM in order to avoid the crowds and I got great pictures without a bunch of people in them. I'm sorting pictures this week and should have some posted on my FTP site by Friday. I'll post a link in the Comics General forum.

Happy to help. You can actually see the reef (or the white caps anyway) from the beach on Caye Caulker, just about a half mile or so off shore. We got five hours of snorkeling with all the gear (it's less if you have your own) for two people at three locations for $45 American so it's very affordable.

The downside to Caye Caulker is that it's very commercialized and the beaches aren't very good, but for snorkeling and diving it's great. You have to go to Placencia in southern Belize for the nice beaches. That's where we spent the last five days of our vacation and it was outstanding.

Steve, Congrats on adding another page to your collecting goal.

I see the first page was added to CAF 3/2/2005. That's over three years ago (and I'm assuming you've had that page longer) and a veritable lifetime to hold onto one goal, let alone one page, for some collectors. What I'd like to know is, do you find your public desire for these specific pages has aided or hindered your collecting goal?

Mike, that's a good question, and I really don't know the answer. All I know is that these pages have come up for sale, and I've been willing to pay the price to get them, and with each page the price has gotten higher and higher. I think it's due to the market in general, not to my desire for them, but I surmise that if additional pages come up for sale in the future and are offered to me privately, they will NOT be cheap... (shrug) Hope that makes sense.

Placencia noted. Sounds like it was outstanding!

We've been going to Bonaire just for the reason of avoiding over-commercialization. It's great for diving but it doesn't have beautiful beaches, mostly rocky shores, some beachy areas but not super pretty like the ones I've seen pics of in Belize.

Methinks we'll have to move Belize further up on the priority list. (thumbs u
