The upcoming NYC con might have more art than SDCC. But, yeah, SDCC would be just fine. I don't know about the negotiating, but offer up your Byrne X-men covers and you'll get something nice in return.

 

edit: if you're looking to negotiate, might I recommend Albert Moy or Coolines/San Mateo. You'll enjoy that. Be sure to tell them about your very best pieces as possible trade.
