Which Books Have Increased The Most After Relative Obscurity...

Spiderman #129 (Puisher) is the most extreme example I know. It didn't even get broken out from surrounding issues for many years.

Also, Daredevil #131 (first Bullseye), nobody cared until MIller came along

All Batman first silver age appearances of villians (#155, 181, 189, 234, etc)

Hulk #181, a totally meaningless issue until GS Xmen #1

Iron Fist #14 (first Sabertooth)

House Of Secrets #92 (first Swampy), it was always worth more than other issues, but is now highly sought after

I think a couple true out of nowhere books, if you look at early 90's guide prices being $2.00 (Even MS5 was at least a $8 book then) & under, with high grades going for $500+ now...

House of Mystery #174

House of Secrets #81

Tomahawk #114

Weird War #1

A lot of these are keys that either faded soon after then had a resurgence (HFH 1) or were a key not long after publishing (Hulk 181). GL/GA 76 was a key the day it was printed, and expensive relative to other books its age.

A true sleeper was Iron Man 55. It was a common until the early-90's, and must hold some kind of record from publishing date until "key status".

All Star Western 10 is another interesting one, that really didn't catch on until very late.

Others include some of the horror books mentioned above, and books like Amazing Adventures 11 (first Blue Beast), Adventure 431 (first badass Spectre), and many of the "Mod Wonder Womans. Lots of sleeper DCs, but no real hyper-keys.

Defenders 10 took awhile to really break out.

One that has really taken off in recent years would be Tales To Astonish #59.Hulks first appearance in the book that eventually became his own.

For years,TTA 60 was regarded as the better of the two books, now that has reversed, big time.

Overstreet 33 has #59 at $175 in 9.0,while #60 is at $187

Overstreet 38 has #59 at $388 in 9.0 while #60 is at $261.

Not many SA Marvels have more than doubled in the last 5 years in 9.0

Tales To Astonish 57,an early Spidey appearance has also taken off, doubling in value over the same time period.

As far as Hulk 181 goes,it came out in early September and GS X-Men came out the following April,so there wasn't much of a lag between the two.

Tomb of Dracula 10 was a long-time sleeper.

The Hulk Treasury with Wolverines first solo story is a potential sleeper,if CGC ever gets around to slabbing these books.

How about Iron Man #55, and Silver Surfer #4?

i remember for years you practically couldn't give away an IM 55 - nobody wanted it

another one that comes to mind was spidey 129 which had little interest until punisher became a hit in the mid eighties.
