ASM 90's fever hunt...

16 posts in this topic

I've noticed that the price guide for the 301-400 and nº400-441 run is being doubled the najority of times, but the vol.2 is going near the 3x times the price guide...ASM looks to have some legs for some interesting prices change...

Nothing really. Cool Venom cover and the fact that it appears to be the lowest print run ASM book since God knows when.

The 2nd edition of the Standard Catalog of Comic Books

shows ASM Vol 2, #19 to have Diamond pre-order numbers of 52,994.

They show Vol 2 #20 to #29 with pre-orders of 45k to 52k.

Marvel circulation statement for the year shows 113,000+ totals for those issues.

Both numbers are in the Standard Catalog.

Marvel declares their circulation numbers for the title for the year... 113,000+.

The Diamond pre-order number (52k) is just that... Diamond pre-orders.

The other 60,000 copies that make up the 113k are not pre-ordered

through Diamond... they circulate in other ways (subscriptions...)

Do they have a breakdown of newsstand vs subscriptions for the publisher's circulation numbers? I would be interested to see whether Marvel has had any success with their newsstand program.

Not that I know of.

For all the books listed in the Standard Catalog...

Most... have no print run info at all.

Some... (older ones mainly) have circulation numbers (averaged for the year)

A few... have Capital City and Diamond pre-order numbers

And I was surprised to see that ASM Vol #2 actually had both

the circulation and the pre-order numbers listed.

I'd love to know the details about every book ever printed...

especially the Marvel and DC issues...but that's not likely to happen.
