Jerry,

That is the great thing about art. It is in the eye of the beholder. I understand you might not think it is worth this amount, but trust me others will.

Here are the last reported cover sales on ebay for marginal covers... not near as nice or important as this one in my opinion. Perhaps you like them more, or wouldn't have paid these prices. Obviously these people made a considerable profit over and above what we sold them for. It is my job to make sure Charlie receive's the lion's share of the money on his original art sales, not resellers :)

WD 97 $1800

Please don't take this as a shot at you Jerry, as it definitely is not. Just another opinion on the value of the cover that I am currently selling on Charlie's behalf.

Nice to see you on the board Mark - Hi - I don't take it as a shot at all - I always say reasonable minds can disagree about pricing -- I also always say that Adlard's work is sometimes brilliant and at other times...a bit...rushed, to put it nicely..

Look, personally, I hope the cover goes for 20 grand, it only helps us collectors, Adlard, you, and the entire industry..

I also didn't mean to sound vitriolic with my statement - just my thoughts on how much the cover is worth..I'm also the first person to say WD OA has become wildly inflated - who knows, maybe the inflation will become to new status-quo on WD OA pricing!

Thinking about it, it might round out nicely as follows:

#100 Third Printing, #101 & #102 Second Printings will "complete" the "overall picture" for this arc with the "right side" of this six-issue cover spread

I can tell you that this is entirely the intent. This arc will be the most reprinted storyline. I recall them saying that the arc will stay in print until trade 17 hits stands in Nov/Dec.

If these are the most recent realized prices then the cover is overpriced for an auction. It may be a good price for a "Buy it now" but to maximize your auction dollars you want potential buyers to have a sense of ownership. Whenever they have the high bid that sense kicks in even if it is only for 5 minutes and it grows as the amount of time they are winning it increases.

I understand your job is to ensure Charlie gets the lion's share as stated then you are best to put a higher price like you did (or higher) and open it to offers or lower the price and send it to auction. Regardless of what you're selling this is the way to go.

Best of luck!
