~9.8 to ? w/ <0.1" piece missing from spine corner

Opinion on how much grade reduction would occur from a near perfect comic (1986) [white pages, no creases, tears or spine roll] with the only defect being a very small piece missing from the front bottom left corner by spine?

Your best bet would be to post scans of the comic in question.

Bindery chips are OK on 9.4's possibly 9.6. Most likely not 9.8, IMO.

I have owned books in 9.8 with very minor bindery tears. here is an example of one with a small tear top left corner of the spine.

I agree 100% with your assessment on tears, JP. I took the OP's post to be dealing with a U-shaped bindery chip actually missing from the book, as opposed to just a small tear.
