Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide

I just got a copy and was looking at prices in it compared to some on Ebay. It seems that some comic books sell on Ebay for more than the guide price.

 

Am I correct in my observation and if so, what drives the price up beyond the guide price?

I think it really depends on the title and the grade. I sold a ton of bronze age FF, ASM, and DD that went no where near Overstreet prices. At the same time, Overtreet misses hard to find books on occasion and these commnad a premium.

 

Not to mention the whole CGC thing...

Here is one I saw. If I am reading the guide correctly they list it as NM $45.

In this case, the book has been professionally graded so arguably it should command a premium. If you do recent searches on Ghost Rider 1, Marvel Spotlight 5, Daredevil 131,132,158,168 (just to name a few) command much higher prices than noted in overstreet and much much higher when they are CGC graded.

Is the .2 better difference in grade really worth that much?
