FAN EXPO CANADA: Remembering Michael Turner

The staff and friends of Fan Expo Canada are filled with immense grief with the passing of renowned artist and close friend Michael Turner.

 

Michael tragically passed away on the evening of June 27th in his home state of California after an eight year battle with cancer. He left this world at the young age of 37.

 

Michael's list of professional accomplishments is impressive, but the most memorable accomplishment of all is that he was a great human being. He was like a member of the Fan Expo family who always put the fans of his work ahead of his own well-being. Even when the battle with such a terrible illness became extremely rough, Michael insisted on getting out to meet his fans, even if only for a short time.

 

Not a single person of the entire Fan Expo crew has anything but good things to say about Michael. His quick wit, gratitude towards the staff and fans, and his incredible humility truly left impressions among all of us. Despite his extraordinary talents that has given him such a famous name, he stayed humble and loyal to his fans for years, which alone speaks volumes about his character.

 

Although Michael would prefer everyone who had the pleasure to have known him to simply celebrate his life, feeling anything but sadness for such a dear friend is difficult and next to impossible.

 

Michael, you will be missed immensely by all of us.
