Lots of very nice stuff on here. Since people were sharing their training, I thought I would share mine - I am agraduate of the Cleveland Institute of Art ('93) where one of my fellow classmates in Illustration was (befoer he dropped out) none other than Brian Bendis! (He was of course, skinnier and had hair back then!) I remember the instructors got so frustrated with him because he took every assignment and turned it into a super-hero based illustration! He wasn't the best in our class, but I daresay he went on to become the most successful!

I'm 28 years old and can't draw a LICK! Seriously. I can't draw a door, a dog, a person or a head. Nothing.

I've always wanted to learn.

Just checking this thread has inspired me also.

So I guess youtube, practice, etc? Are there any good "learn how to draw books?" out there? I'd like comic related but for now, anything that will help me improve from "terrible" to just "really bad" will be good!

Suggestions?

I started a thread about the best free video tutorial site I've ever come across. CLICK

Hello all,

Not sure why I've taken so long to post in this section, but it is what it is. Too busy hunting down my favorite books. Anyway, I've really enjoyed looking at the work here by fellow boardies and want to finally join the fray.

Comics got me into art as a kid (big surprise, I know) and that lead me to wanting to learn figurative art by way of anatomy. Anyway, I got my serious start 10 years ago at a traditional Fine Arts academy in Connecticut, but switched to a more conceptual "kitschy" type work several years ago. (although I still teach the academic approach) I'm a draftsman and sculptor, but these days the lines get a little blurred. Anyway, I'll post a few examples of both types of my work. I would love to hear your thoughts!

Thanks for looking!

These are all really nice!

I loved working with clay but man, I just don't have the time or space any more.
