Comic con professional pass

Is there any deadline to register one of these pro passes? I have someone who is offering to sell one to me, but I'd like to know if the pass can actually be transferred to me before I hand over any $$. Thanks!

The way it was explained to me when I bought mine was that the person selling it gives your name to the con staff and they put it on a list of people for that booth or whatever. Then, when you go to the con, you walk up and say "Hi, I'm ______, and I'm here to pick up my badge under booth _____". You show them ID that matches the name on the list and get your badge. You should wait for an actual exhibitor to respond, but I don't think it's too late for you to buy it.
