1 inch tear on back cover- grade affected?

1 post in this topic

Hi- been looking at the boards for last 6 months, and finally posting a question.

I have sent a few submissions of my favorite higher grade 1960/61 DC Silver Age books to CGC. My question is the following: I have a chance to purchase (well- bid on) what appears to be a nice silver age DC in apparent VF condition (looking at the front and back cover scans, and seeing a nice scan of the spine). However, there is a one inch tear on the back cover at the top of the book (not near the spine). How much does a tear affect the grading of a book when CGC is grading it?

Thanks
