Isn't it time GRADING notes were printed on the CGC label?

Let the grade reflect the page quality.

I vehemently disagree. The structural grade of the book should not be affected one bit by page quality. Anything other than that is a slippery slope.

1) The numerical assignment should reflect ONLY the structure of the book.

2) The page quality should be listed because otherwise nobody knows what is going on inside.

3) eye appeal is evident from a scan so I'm not too concerned about eye appeal / grade.

How you can not have even some sort of token reference to PQ is beyond me.

The grade of a book is already affected by page quality.

In some cases, not all...and that is why it needs to be separated completely.

For example a white pager can push a tweener up, a c/ow can push a tweener down, but o/w and ow/w stay the course...and yet all 4 books can be identicle in structure. Doesn't that seem a bit....strange?

Heck, I'm don't see why they should even put the grade on the label.

Aren't we supposed to buy the book and not the number?

No. Christian, post that double cover Hulk.

Incredible Hulk #131 Universal Grade: 8.5

Page Quality: LIGHT TAN TO OFF-WHITE

Double Cover

Exterior cover = 9.0

Interior cover = 9.6

Right. 8.5 is the highest grade a comic can get with lt/ow acc to CGC. I understand that. There was an early Action on Comiclink with the same thing. I would prefer to have the book get a numerical grade that is NOT affected by the PQ and then factor in the PQ into what someone wants to bid.

Doesn't that make more sense?

Or does it make sense to have a perfect 9.6 book with lt/ow pages grade an 8.5?

Where you there in Chicago on Sun morning when I cracked open a Golden Age Green Lantern #25 that was CGC graded 8.5 lt/ow?

The book was 9.6 flawless from 1948. It was from the Big Apple ped. I cracked the book with Tec27 and Koko1 watching in disbelief. I cracked it becuase it was the 2nd time I submitted that book and knew what the interior pages looked like...the where near white in the center with the ever so slightest hair of a tan line around the outside...so I subbed it a 3rd time.

All 3 times a flawless 9.6 book got an 8.5.

I don't get it. The pages where supple, white in the middle and strong.

I think it did the book an injustice to grade it an 8.5.

That's why my 8.5 sold for two times the 8.5 value on Comiclink.

Somebody did just that...they bought the book and I'll bet they never regretted it.

Then do what numerous individuals have recommended and disagree with the CGC grade. Crack it out and sell it raw for the higher grade you think it should have been graded.

Yeah, and taste the wrath of the zealots.

What zealots? According to several board members, this practice is common place and quite acceptable.

You know what I mean...but I guess you're right and can't please everybody...in any case I was lucky to find someone who was happy enough to buy the book.

It is the start of a stupid little saying around the playground from when I was in kindergarten.

Basically means the same as neener_neener.gif
