I remember reading this issue on the bus sometme during the warmer days of 1971 and thinking "Wow, hasn't Superman changed a LOT in a few years!"

 

That was the writing I was mainly refering to, but the whole visual layout of these DC books had dramatically altered, making them much faster and easier to read, but also with less overall content. Curt Swan's pencilling was the cleanest and sharpest looking of any time.
