Now this is one of my fave early Superboys. A #20 was also the first early Superboy I ever scored back in the 70's. Silver's copy makes mine look like landfill.

Silver...your book deserves another look. And your book looks much better than your scan.......try this......

20s 20s 20s -

Great 20s! You post the most Maneely covers by far.

That one is really creepy! Either the woman is desperately looking away from her man, or she's severely cross-eyed. More a scene of coercion than ecstacy.

We could do a whole gallery of that scene. (Did we start one at BangZoom's thread?)

A Fine Romance cover, but yakkity-freakin'-yak!

Is it pure Kirby?

I like the "average-looking" parents. Do you think they're portraits of neighbors or acquaintances?

FF20.jpg

One of my favorite Marvel villains, but Stan's science writing at its weakest (as I mentioned on a Gold thread).

Weird cover scene, isn't it, with the streetscape curving up to the right and the streetlamp and hydrant pointing toward us in the foreground.

Nice copy -- I should upgrade my beater some day.

Pre-headband Jor-El!

plus a radio station with 5 call letters.

How did you find such a great copy? Must have been a tough one.

oddly enough #20 seems to be more abundant in nice shape than other issues from the same timeframe. Number 21 is non existant above VG/F

My Friend Irma #20

I just love this cover gag :)

Usually the Irma gags get old REAL fast for me -- like I can hardly make it through a whole story -- but this one works. Probably because it's understated by making the reader fill in the question. Nice DeCarlo artwork too.

Better late than never. Actually here in central time zone it's moments before midnite.

Another great Sea Devils cover. Would Biff's brain be so much of a loss?

It's Howard Purcell, but somehow always reminds me of Ditko, especially the bad guy with string tie and the robots. Both influences by Meskin?

Well...pulled just a few more DC's for #20 day. Won't have time for any more.

Not sure if any of these have been posted.

Two more Funny Animals

That darn crow has just about gotta be among the meanest cuss' in 40's comics.

And Judy is still lookin' a bit ragged today. But somehow she still shines here.
