His regular fee at conventions (what he charged me at NYCC 2008) was $100, and he only did 5 sketches per day

Yes he raised his price by $20 a couple years ago and limited himself to 5 a day so he could really nail them. And frankly, the new style sketches are so good he could charge double the old rate and people would still be thrilled.
