UK Conventions

Do we actually have comventions over here?

You seem to have spelled 'flea market' wrong there.

Well - I spelt convention wrong at least!

Used to like going to flea markets when I was a kid - nobody dressed up as Wolverine though, just plenty of grannies who hadn't cut their fingernails!

Anyone know when the next UK Convention is??

May 9th /10th in Bristol.

Bristol con

I've been to 4 of these now and they're pretty good - not a patch on the UKCACs of the 80s mind but reasonable.

See you there!

I'd like to make it to one of these. :wishluck:

Check out the guest list. If we had SS witnesses in the UK I could get a bunch of Hellblazers done (and I would).

Bristol and Birmingham and the main ones with guests, small press, dealers etc. Then there are the local fairs with just the back issues dealers etc. The memorabilia fairs at the NEC also used to have some comic dealers and celebs but I don't know if the comic guys still go.

Earl.

My biggest regret from Bristol 2003 was missing out at buying a special Dave Gibbons Miracleman art piece - it sold for just £300 doh!

Equally, passing up on 3 pages of Rorsharch-featuring Watchmen art at a London mart as recently as 2006. The guy only wanted a £1,000! I'd have made ten times that! doh! doh!

But anyway, I've been to marts all over the UK - from the good (London - Leeds & Manchester in the 1980s) to the embarrasing - Cheshunt, Herts a couple of weeks ago had just ONE dealer !!! Seriously.

Bristol is a really good event.

Never been to Birmingham one. Brighton was ok.

But ahhhh, the London UKCAC's... Alan Moore, 2000AD, Cooper Age, fanzines....

Anyway, here's some convention stuff from my archive....

Doesn't sound like I missed much but where did you hear about the Cheshunt show from?
