These pop up every once in a while, and suckers bid high thinking it's a variant of the print run (a la USM) and not some POS shiny thing printed years later.

I'd agree with you there. tossing their money around like confetti always helps a good crash along. In fact, it's a prerequisite.

Usually, though, it only indicates a crash in what they were buying.

P.S. CGC 9.8 of a full chromium comic is like saying CGC 9.4 for a regular book.
