I'm reading the story for the first time (TBP).

Halfway through....

A little wordy (I've probably been corrupted by modern comics ) but it's keeping me in there.

 

Funny how the heroes are being incompasitated one by one (death-exile on mars-prison).

I took me 4-5 attempts before I finally got through it. The further into the book I got the more I got into the story. I have read it 4 times since and seem to enjoy it more each time.

The one with the guy on a raft (with dead bodies/shark)?

Very briefly, do you not see a parallel? Between the guy who sought to rescue his people but in so doing, actually became their murderous attacker? Who used the dead bodies of his comrades to enable his mission?

Most people scim through or skip the side story and miss the point of it. When you read it a second time you will understand it better, I did.
