Charles Vess OA - Pricing

Hi All!!!

 

Ok, so I posted a Charles Vess pricing question, but was pretty vague on the piece of art so i could not get a good idea of "fair pricing".

 

So, here it is... If its meant to be mine, it will be...

Please let me know what a fair price would be for this? Is the price being asked, fair?

 

I love it mostly for the Spidey part.. always wanted a Vess spidey piece.

Rac, I've known Charles since 8th grade and he is amazingly talented. His Spidey atrwork is glorious. Here's my take: there's very little spiderman on the piece and not a very good spidey at that. It's not from a major comic. Were I you, I would try to hunt him down and invest some $$ in a nice pen and ink full figured Spiderman. Just my opinion

I think the typical reaction to "Buy-It-Now" prices is that they MUST favor the seller and therefore, must be high. (As anyone who saw my post in the PREACHER thread, that's not always true.) In this case, I really don't know...it doesn't seem unreasonable, given what other Vess covers have sold for, but there are obviously always a lot of variables at play in addition to the artist. Have you tried making the seller an offer? You never know, they may be very motivated to sell and you could end up with a better deal.

I am not the seller and don't know the seller, but wouldn't you much rather have one of these pages from his Spiderman: Spirits of the Earth book?

If you were buying that Vess page for the Spidey in it then the color painted pages with Spidey all over it for less money would be a no brainer.

Good advice. Thanks for the opinions. I wish I saw that Spirits of the Earth page that sold before, that is a nice looking page.

I suspect you'll see more available, too. It looks like that book had over 70 pages, so there's plenty out there.
