i have this one, but look how washed out the colors look--like a wholly different shade of green. 6.5.

My filthy American friend is correct. BTW that Canadian copy is my old one, use to be in a CGC 5.5 label.

Who had it first? :baiting: That book sure has seen the rounds on these boards.................

Probably has changed hands 5-6 times before it landed in DMW's hands. Wouldn't mind owning this book again.

Canadian copies weren't smudged because Canadians are a cleaner people.

because i like him so much [not to mention the opportunity to exercise my own exhibitionist streak], i'm going to post my pedestrian copies of timely's books as they correspond to his series of posts. this will let y'all appreciate the quality of his books even more, and i'll have fun as well.

92. interesting note: check the "scuff" on the left column of the "m." it's on both copies, and the flaw is on virutally every copy i've ever seen.

mm92.jpg

hm That scuff appears to be a wet ink smear  (it looks like it was pulled off the press too soon and folded before the ink dried), but...

...reality isn't always virtual. :grin::baiting:

Just getting back to this thread.

The story behind this copy of MM #92 is indeed interesting.

I've never submitted any books to PGX (in fact, I think that this may be the only PGX book in my collection), but I acquired this one about a year ago from a dealer in Oklahoma. I suppose he could've cracked it out and resubmitted it to PGX for a higher grade; it doesn't appear that any other manipulations were done. Looking at the visible flaws though, I can't imagine this being a different book. (shrug)

Does anyone know if there are differences between the U.S. and Canadian versions of this particular issue (besides the CAN. ED. stamp)? hm

Yes, the word "JUNE" is also missing from the Canadian edition. (thumbs u

David I'm pretty sure the dealer you bought ti from bought that issue off of me, its the same book. The back cover is defintely different, paper and printing quality are usually inferior (colors off center) , although I seem to recall that the cover for that MMC#92 was more rigid than a normal comic. Here a Cap #74 interior page, not the best production quality that is for sure.

:o That's the month of my birth (not '49 though); how dare they remove it! :ohnoez:

Oh well, if those are the only differences then I suppose there isn't much variation between them. (unlike the last Sub-Mariner where the Canadian issue is #31 and it's U.S. counterpart is #32). For some reason or other the month designation seems less noteworthy; content is another story.

BTW, I may have a couple of interesting new images to upload here tomorrow. :whee::gossip:

Thanks for the input, Surfer. (thumbs u

Fortunately my Cap #74 is a U.S. edition (I've haven't cracked it out, but that Red Skull story looks fantastic!).

So, the Canadian presses were less smudgy, but unable to hold registration. (shrug) It looks like an early attempt at 3D comics. lol

Tomorrow?? :pullhair: The Cap #74 was originally printed in 1949 but the Canadian version was printed in 1950.

That is also quite interesting. As the final Timely issue of Cap came out later in the year I guess that makes sense though. hm

Just for reference, here's my Cap #74...
