Yep; the red label is the old "modern" tier. They phased it out when they went to the new format.

 

Some people like the red labels (or the old smaller labels) since there was a time period where people think that CGC was harsher than they are now on the books. Additionally, it's thought that old label books have not recently been pressed, so there's a sense that they're "safer."

Red was even earlier... the red label was "modern" (1975 to present), then the blue label was used,

still with the tiny writing of the old label style, then blue with the large number (current) format.

 

Wolverine Limited Series (and other moderns) might be any of these three label styles... all meaning "universal".
