Is that the next big trend? Not even bothering with getting the books pressed first...and simply pricing them as if they have already been pressed into a better grade?

Logical extension of using GPA to price raw books. Use GPA to price the grade bump in anticipation of a press.

 

This is how the "old school" dealers used to operate - "this book isn't a key YET, but you just wait and Rai 9 will be an important book. Mine are $10 but you can get them out of the quarter bin over there."

Nothing logical about it. Just another lame attempt at trying to boost your price without doing the legwork to legitimize it...
