As far as I know, this particular museum simply had the personal interest to create this exhibit. It runs through Sept. Many of the items are on loan. I loaned about 8 or 9 books.

It seems like there have been a lot of comic book exhibits lately. I enjoyed the one at the Skirball here in L.A. a few months ago. There was one in New Jersey and in NYC as well in the last 6 months.
