1970 British Weekly Comics appreciation thread (Captain Britain etc. )

Hi,

 

Just wondering if there is anyone else that collects the weekly comics for GB?

 

I just picked up a large lot of Captain Britain and Super Spider man and Captain Britain books.

 

Was wondering if anyone else enjoyed collecting these books too!

I have not been able to find Captain Britain: 17, 19, 22, 24 but I have the rest!

I had a subscription back in the early 1970's.

Our local newsagent delivery boy on his bicycle delivered each to my door,

(Gary Smith as I remember) he was a school buddy.

I still have most of them, all with my address written on the cover by the newsagent.

I am wondering why they are so hard to find in HG? Were these "throw aways" compared with the regular books? There are not a lot on Ebay and very few CGC'd.

Well, they were just reprints of the US books, in black and white and printed on cheap paper.

 

Even off the presses you would be lucky to find them in HG.

The covers on the issues of CB were great especially the later issues!

I should clarify that the Captain Britain stories featured new material and the rest were reprints.

I love the Captain Britains, Are you talking about the newspaper type mags? Hard to come across must in good shape. Got 5 extra first app. pf Psylocke. Awesome artists in the Steranko, etc....

most of mine look like this,some with slight foxing, some like new.Lots with white pages.

Note the address "26" and sometimes "26 Adelaid Place" written on the back.
