Since Wolverine's short height is one of his most well-known attributes and Hugh Jackman is a foot taller than Wolvie in the comic, it's safe to say Hollywood cares about acting ability, good looks, and a suitable mood for the character a ton more than height. I've got to agree with that general approach.
