Earliest Existing 10.0 Gem Mint Book

37 posts in this topic

This is one of those random questions that I can't find an answer to anywhere on the Internet. I tried searching the boards but came up empty. What is the earliest existing 10.0 gem mint book? The 1990s? The 1980s? Earlier? Could a book from the 1960s ever qualify as gem mint? Would anyone believe it if it happened?

I was going to say it is a book from the 1940s as ComicLink had mentioned it in a newsletter months ago.

Amazing to hear any item that old retained a 10.0 condition. Great question!

Easy to grade when there's no cover.

Yea I find it hard to count that one also due to no cover. The Thor 156 previously alluded to is the earliest 10.0 I've seen. There are one or two Golden Age 9.9s, but no real 10.0s.

I think there is a Captain Canuck #1 from around 1975 in 10.0

The Canucks strike again

But was that CGC or PGX? If it was pgx you can just ignore that grade since PGX gives out more 10's then cgc ever could.

I might be wrong, but I think it is owned by that guy that FROZE all his comics.

He wanted $5000 for it I seem to recall.

He also came up with one of two of the Wolverine 1 LS CGC 10.0s in the census.
