speaking of 2 issue story arcs: go read dr. strange vs. dracula crossover.

One of the best unique confrontations ever.

Going way OT....the Doom/Strange book by Thomas/Mignola is outstanding.

I remember thinking the 1950's Captain America storyline from Cap 153-156 was pretty cool when I was a kid - does it still hold up and has it ever been reprinted?

I read it last year and I feel like it does hold up, especially if you read it while pretending you don't know the ending. Englehart's pretty solid.

I don't know if it's been reprinted - not to my knowledge, but maybe the Marvel Essentials have gotten that far?

If you can think of some good DC story arcs (1 or 2 issues) I would love to hear the suggestions. If all I have to buy are 1 or 2 issues for a great story all the better...less cost..more stories to buy.

Others have suggested the Marshall Rogers / Steve Englehart run, Detective 471-476 (with #469 & #470 as an optional prelude not by Rogers). And the Manhunter run, which was Detective 437 -443.

For shorter two- or three-parters, try

JLA 100-102 (JLA/JSA/Seven Soldiers)

JLA 107-108 (JLA/JSA/Freedom Fighters)

Batman 242-244 (Ras al Ghul, last 2/3 with Neal Adams art)

Superboy 200-202 (intro of Wildfire and Cockrum's swan song on the Legion)

Amazing Adventures - Killraven run

Gerber's Fear / Manthing run

Howard the Duck run

Master of Kung Fu #31 - 50 by Gulacy
