Is the B&W SPAWN #1 really a variant to the first issue? I noticed the date on the B&W is 1997, but SPAWN#1 came out in 92. What's the deal?

I sold a Spawn 1 9.6 SS for $178

"Reprint" is more accurate. It was an incentive for another Spawn book. Maybe "Dark Ages" or "Curse of...." It's been too long for me to remember.

I don't have GPA, and even if I did, I just couldn't see my way clear to $300+.

I sold a Spawn B&W #1 CGC SS 9.8 WP for about a $1K earlier in the year. At the time of sale, it was the only CGC SS 9.8 in the Census.

That 9.4 B/W Sig series sold for $260. A much better book then the 9.8 regular cover. I might be in the Minority but especially on sig series I buy the book not the grade. Plenty of great books out there if you don't require 9.8.
