Very tough anti-commie books to find, especially the 1950.

OSPG estimates 20-30 copies of the 1950 edition exist (10 in total have been CGC'd, 3 of which are restored) and 80+ of the 1958 (24 copies CGC'd, 1 restored). Gerber gives these "7" and "8" designations, though I think he has those backwards.

A CGC 7.5 1950 version with moderate restoration just sold at Heritage last month for a strong price of $418.00.

2nd highest graded copy

$650.00

$200.00 - same as last GPA sale in Oct 2008

I wouldn't give the light tan pages too much thought b/c of the type of paper used and the rarity. Doesn't really look any difference than the cream designated copy! 2c

New Book of Comics #2 (DC, 1938)

Very early DC square bound annual starring Superman prototype Dr. Occult. Siegel & Shuster content. Very cool historic book. If you want to see what the early days of comics were like pre-Superman, this is the book for you.

This book used to be a hot ticket item but sad to say the Platinum books have taken a hit recently. I love em. :cloud9: I'm only selling this one b/c I purchased a CGC 8.0 copy. :gossip:

Cover detached, pieces out fc, bc, scan says it all, cr pgs, 2.0

2009 OSPG = $950.00. The dealer I bought this from had it priced at $1,200.00

$600.00

Very, very cool "comic". Listed as "rare" by OSPG. Has a strip story for every day of the year. I've seen some versions with a white cover but no indication that this is missing anything as I have another copy just like this one.

Piece missing as evident in scan, tearing at stapes, cr pgs, completely intact and ready to be viewed!! 1.8/2.0

$75.00

If you're a stamp collector, like I am, you'll love this book. It was a great short-lived series but it is filled with awesome stories and stamp photos.

Great cover colors, lower staple rust, 2 full-length bc creases, fc creases, ow pgs, 3.5/4.0

$35.00

Really gorgeous copy of a 63 year old funny book!

Slightest nick at lower spine, beautiful colors, simply stunning, ow/w pgs, 9.2/9.4

Below guide!!!

NOTE: That is not a defect on the spine which appears to be a yellow flick of paper. That was on the scanner.

$300.00

This original thread is in the "Mixed Age" section and since I have no idea how to move it, I'll just start new postings here.

Check out the Original Thread as some of the books may still be available.

The original description from last year:

I just purchased a nice collection of approximately 1,400 books (about 8 long boxes) of an Original Owner collection that was created predominantly during around 1952 - 1964 (though some books are as early as 1948, and some into the 1970s). The books were primarily purchased in the Washington, D.C. and Ocean City, Maryland regions.

I would say the books average mid-grade and of course run the gamut from low to high grade. Within the collection is a smattering of books from such publishers as Dell comics, DC Comics, St. John, Harvey Comics, Standard Comics, Tobby Press, Quality Comics and many others.

Of particular note in this collection are the early 1950s DC War comics that are often difficult to find. Also, a lot of nice Dell Giants.
