This is a SHARP looking 9.6.

Please keep in mind this is not my book, but I was surprised to see a JD #1 CGC'd considering this issue really isn't in high demand. I doubt they would have submitted this if they thought it couldn't get a 9.8 So to those of you who think CGC has gotten soft on there grading, I disagree.

That's Ted from Superworld Comics. A fantastic dealer, and an extremely tight grader.

If he sent that book in, it is because he felt very good about it's chances to place in the 9.6-9.8 range, and in this case it ended on the 9.6 side.

What's wrong with a 9.6, Mister "My World Has To Be Perfect" collector?

Look at the top right corner on that book - that's probably why it's a 9.6.

And CGC is insanely soft on moderns right now. They're so loose that I'm not buying any recently-slabbed moderns because I don't want a 9.6 book in a 9.8 slab.

Would look better with a sig on it.

All 9.6s are sharp. One thumb dent, that can't even be seen when a book is in a slab, is all it takes to bring a 9.8 to a 9.6. One or two noncolorbreaking impressions on a white back cover, again impossible to see except under direct light, will bring a dead bang 9.8 to a 9.6. The flaws in either are typically so minute that it is hard to pick them out from the slab, and certainly from a slab anyway, unless they are flecks at the corner or spine stresses.
