How big is your . . .

. . . scans of your comics that you upload to photobucket?

My scanner is giving me files of like 4MB, I resized the picture in paint (yeah I know, but I don't like any other programs) to 50% and end up with about 500 KB. Does that seem big enough? Still too big?

 

Any feedback would be appreciated

I resize to 900 pixels width and upload to my own hosting site which doesn't alter the file sizes.

 

I do the same, but decided to go with 840 for some reason... (about 1MB)

but I use the 840 as a baseline for modern comics; if a comic is a different size I modify my scan size accordingly...

Scan into PhotoShop at 150 dpi, reduce to 700 pixels across (actual size), use the save for the web option with resolution at 65-70. Scans are usually 200k - 300k and I host them on my own domain.
