52 posts in this topic

I recently bought a raw copy of Captain America Comics #34 from a fellow board memember. Upon recieving the book I noticed the book had what seems to be a missing wrap it looks as if the pages on both sides of the wrap were sliced out of the book. So I counted the pages including the front and back cover are as follows

Front Cover

Inside Front Cover

Page 1 front Captain America "The Cult of the Assassins" Splash Page

during the war, there were many such cuts and weird wrap combos

Know of anyone who has a #34 who can check page for page?

from your page by page description, it appears you have already confirmed there are no story page interuptions, correct?

I don't have my 34 any more to check

I think they should have 30 total, including covers, so typically 28 interior pages and 2 covers

was there a letter colum or full ad page (front and back)

I'm the one who sold Trey the Cap #34. Before sending the book out I reviewed the comic book to make sure the book was complete. There should be 56 internal pages (minus the covers).

Regarding the buyer's page count, I question the following double counted pages:

Page 11 front page 5 of story 2

Page 12 back page 6 of story 2

Page 12 front page 7 of story 2

Page 12 back page 8 of story 2

and

Page 19 front is page 5 of story 3

Page 19 back is page 6 of story 3

Page 19 front is page 7 of story 3

Page 19 back is page 8 of story 3

Perhaps the buyer can clarify?

As Rick indicates the half-wrap cuts were common in wartime Timelys. I have other wartime Timelys with such cuts, and I don't believe they're evidence of missing pages.

Ah didnt see the typo :frustrated: fixed it (thumbs u

So 28 total interior pages or 56 interior pages

Counting the front and back cover page that would put the total at 56 interior pages and 4 cover pages so 60 total

Check page #165, this is a great reference for all those weird page counts.

and I have LOTS of books like that. Usually the books have more pages on the leftside of the center staple than the right. It repeated in some 1950's DCs.

Let me add that Rockman has been very understanding with me and offered a full refund or a partial refund if the book was missing wraps. I just want to make sure that it is not no need to get rid of a perfectly ok book . As you guys know I am new to the GA collecting so forgive my ignorance

Well, the Keltner index is THE source, even if you are not new to GA. Hope it helps, I keep it in my favorites.

So my question is " Does the Keltner index total page count mean interior pages only?

If it doesn't include covers then the book would be missing 4 pages which could account for the four cuts

Page count should be 16-12 (meaning 16 page leafs left of the center of the book and 12 page leafs to the right of the center.)

West

I'm still confused as wether the count means 56 interior pages or 60 interior pages

16-12 means 28 interior pages is that what you are saying
