eBay's Crazy Final 10 Seconds!

11 posts in this topic

Has anyone else noticed that if you keep hitting "refresh" during the last ten seconds of an auction, it goes something like this..........

10 seconds remaining

7 seconds remaining

9 seconds remaining

5 seconds remaining

6 seconds remaining

2 seconds remaining

Closed

It's been doing this for several days.

What's up?!?!?

Gimme a second to figure it out...

BadaBING! grin.gif

The inequality of seconds may well have to do with who is looking at that particualr item in thoughts of getting their last second bid in. Or just a reflection of the overall business of ebay at any given moment. Or of variances in your ISP. Never look for consistency on the internet! laugh.gif

Yah, I've noticed it too. Earlier today I saw 20..15..11..9..15..13..ended

It went from 13 to ended in about 3 seconds...page refreshed fairly quickly on the last 2 attempts, but the time was obviously off.

I missed putting in my bid and winning probably a Superman Annual 1 cgc 9.0 that I guess I misfigured the close time on! It sold for a measly $300! Trying to hit the end time was like lighting one of those firecrackers with a short fuse - it went from 30 seconds to nothing before I could hit the button. Cussed at my computer for several minutes. So that book went for about $1000 less than the top Overstreet price - couldn't figure that out.
