Church Action #1

4 posts in this topic

I posted this in general as part of a thread but it didn't seem to get any traction there so I'll pop it here. I've read multiple times on the boards that Mr. A was offered a million for the Action 1 but looking through a 1989 Overstreet Update the other day I found some data on an earlier offer, circa 1985. This was in Jay Maybruck's advisor report.

"Finally, the most often asked question--what is the most valuable comic? Easy. The Mile High Action #1. It is and always will be. (Its condition is perfect whereas the Mile High Detective #27 is only a VF/NM. I say "only" - I wouldn't mind owning the nicest Detective 27 either.) What would or could this book sell for? A client of ours, four years ago, offered $123,000 in cold cash. No check. The owner wouldn't sell, but so far that's the most real money ever offered for a comic. And today I suspect that price would be cheap."

The MH Action 1 is claimed to be around 9.2 or 9.4 depending on claims by Fishler or Borock.

I've heard 8.0 to 8.5 on the MH Detective 27. With the Allentown 27 claimed to be 9.4-9.6.

From my understanding Parrino offered DA 2 to 3+ million about 5+ years ago for the MH A1 depending on who tells the story.

The MH tec 27 is reportedly sold for 125K (1993-1994 sale?) in Overstreet 25 and 72K (1990-1991 sale?) in OS 22. So I'm not sure how accurate this info is.

Also, sorry I missed you at Wonder Con this year. I should be there next year.

1st time I missed the con in over 20 years.

Scott
