Dude, Andr....er, Gav...that's AWESOME! Congratulations!

It was quite weird to see a house built of bricks, though. Such things being essentially outlawed in California. Are many houses built of brick in the mother country...?

And do they build frame houses?

99.9% I reckon.

And do they build frame houses?

0.1% probably. They then buy brick houses when the frame ones fall down.

Of course, not being subject to periodic earthquakes, I imagine that's true. ;)

Even our prefabs are made from brick. You probably will find frame houses somewhere throughout the country, but it's definitely a minority.

Moving is basically pretty 'orrible, but your move certainly was quite hellish - hopefully the worst is over. Congrats!!

Great work. Nothing better than putting in sweat equity on something you can call your own.

Just wondering - when you removed the plaster from the wall, and saw the brick, why didn't you keep it brick instead of covering over it with drywall/plaster? The brick looked to be in great shape, and while it all comes down to preference, some people actually buy special tiling that is made to look like brick to get the rustic look you had naturally happening when you removed the plaster.

All in all, the place looks fantastic - great work! (thumbs u

We're keen on playing the banjo and chewing on hayseeds in Britain, too. It's the done thing, don't you know.
