Ballantine Original #391K - 1960 1st Edition/1st Printing

 

REVIEW COPY with original certificate.

 

Appears to be unread in NM or better condition. Fantastic copy. "Ballantine Books 35 cents" is written in pencil at the top of the first page (same handwriting as "Strange Relations" on review certificate).

As a bit of a "sampler", here is the first digest:

 

Beyond Fiction Fantasy #1 July 1953 (vol. 1, no. 1) VF - $10

 

Unread copy from an OO sci-fi book and digest collection here in Edmonton. This copy appears to be a review/subscription copy that has a high gloss (like a high end magazine) finish. There was a "regular" copy that the dealer had from the same collection which was not glossy. He gave me the first pick of the two copies, but he would not let me have both (the other one went to his regular sci-fi client along with the majority of the other digests and paperbacks :frustrated: ).

#2 December 1950 (Vol 1, No. 2) FN (store stamp back cover so might be second hand purchase?)

#3 Feburary 1951 (Vol 2, No. 1) VF (store stamp back cover so might be second hand purchase?)

#4 April 1951 (Vol. 2, No. 2) VF

#5 June 1951 (Vol. 2, No. 3) VF/VF+

#6 Sep 1951 (Vol. 2, No. 4) VF/VF+

#7 Nov 1951 (Vol. 2, No. 5) VF

#8 January 1952 (Vol. 3, No. 1) VF+

#9 March 1952 (Vol. 3, No. 2) VF-/VF

 

All of these digests/pulps are in gorgeous condition and appear to be unread. As shown in the scans, there is some waviness starting along the spine due to the squarebound binding glue drying.

 

Pages are off-white/white to white.

This is a NM- copy but there is a small 1/4" tear in the upper left on the top edge front cover and a price sticker on the back cover. :tonofbricks:
