ARCHIE--an assortment

2 posts in this topic

Greetings again! A change of pace this evening: an assortment of Archie titles, with a few high grade and a few just cool books. Shipping is $3 for one book, an extra $1 for each extra book sent at the same time. As always, :takeit: claims the book, but I am happy to entertain offers via PM.

Archie #47 (11-12/50), a 52-page golden age book featuring a very nifty double-sided pin-up page, with Veronica on the front side and Betty on the back (of course!), in great-looking VG- condition. The book has been exposed to moisture and there is a fairly large, but rather light, stain on the edge of the covers and pages. Pretty much invisible on the cover. The entire book has that slightly buckled feel, and it certainly doesn't LIE flat. That said, the cover has deep, rich color and very little wear, and, except for the edge stain, the pages are a very supple off-white. Looks fabulous in mylar! $40

Archie #139 (8/63), featuring a knock-out Harry Lucey and all interior art by him, too, in attractive VG-FN condition, with light spine wear and light creases and superficial stains on the bottom part of the cover. During this period Lucey was doing some incredible covers, and this is one of my favorites. $6

Archie #141 (11/63), featuring another snootful of terrific Harry Lucey art inside (not sure who the cover artist is), in solid VG+ condition, with spine and edge wear. Neat baseball cover. $5

Archie #157 (8/65), featuring a dynamite Dan DeCarlo cover and lots of Harry Lucey art inside, in very pretty FN condition, with corner creases on the top and bottom of the cover. These boots were made for walkin'! $8

Archie's Rival Reggie #14 (8/54), featuring a fabulous Betty cover, in about GD condition, with wear and tear on the spine, a tear on the bottom of the cover in Betty's racket, and a couple of pieces out of the bottom of the back cover. Also features Katy Keene. Pages are a supple cream to off-white. $10

Life with Archie #49 (5/66), featuring the ongoing spoof of Man from U.N.C.L.E. with Archie and the gang as secret agents, in stunning VF-NM (maybe NM-) condition, with a bit of spine stress and traces of dings on the cover. Blazing color and superb gloss on the cover, and exceptional off-white to white pages. $35

Life with Archie #51 (7/66), featuring Archie and his fellow P.O.P agents taking on C.R.U.S.H., in mind-boggling VF-NM (maybe NM-) condition, with the lightest of dings on the cover. Radiant color and amazing gloss on the cover, and terrific off-white to white pages. Beautiful! $35

Life with Archie #47 (3/66), featuring Archie matching wits with the Looker (familiar territory!), in ultra-attractive VG-FN condition. This one looks a lot like the previous two, but there is a cover-length diagonal crease on the back cover. Thr front looks wonderful, with sparkling color and exceptional gloss, and the pages are a very snappy off-white to white. $10

Hope someone can use these beauties. I'll be back with more in a couple of days. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure the cover is by Bob White :)
