Archie #1 Original Art and Other Goodies

Hi!

 

I'm producing a book on the history of Archie Comics (to be published for the upcoming holidays by IDW/Yoe Books in cooperation with Archie Comics).

 

I understand there is a collector out there with the original art to the first Archie cover and would like to get in touch and get a scan. Does anybody on this list have a name, contact info, or clues where he might be? Also looking for other special goodies to reproduce and choice historical information.

 

BTW, Steve B., from this fine group, has already been a generous and tremendous resource and help--a prince among men!

I too have heard that Belchara Malouf owns the OA to Archie # 1 cover, but that the piece is being held as collatoral by a firm that had lent some funds to him. This is unconfirmed as well. The piece may or may not be back in Belchara's possession.

please, how does one get in touch with this gentleman? has there ever been a scan posted of it somewhere or has it ever seen print? did a artvdealer who might have a transparency ever have it? thanks!
