Tupenny’s Return to General: My Pressing Story

Tupenny offers this BUY/SELL scenario for the Boards’ consideration.

The Mighty Tupenny will not participate in any debate which may follow. All facts of any consequence are presented below, in full. There is nothing more to add or explain about the facts.

CONTROVERSY

Seller lists certified CGC slab for sale. No mention is made in the listing by Seller of whether the certified book was pressed or not pressed.

Buyer buys the slab @ sticker.

Subsequent to Buyer's purchase, Buyer & Seller exchange the usual messages regarding shipping details, payment details, etc. in completion of the transaction.

Buyer makes timely payment via paypal.

Seller receives paypal’s email notice of payment made & discovers the following note from Buyer therein:

Note from BUYER:

thank you? has this book been pressed? want to give it to a PROFESSIONAL PRESSER if it hasnt. if it has dont want to waste my money, BUYER

As long as no one's rights were violated, no liberties taken with second party distributers of monetary exchange and there was full disclosure to the point that all truth to be know in due course of questioning was presented; when the buyer bought the product, the exchange moved to the point of no return (unless there is a return policy at which time returns are still in the field of play) then and only then would it be acceptable to answer the question in a short and honest manner so that said seller could rid himself of due process afforded within the Geneva convention of selling funny books wrapped in plastic via media defined and contained therin on the internets.

Was it an Adams cover?

So what's the controversy? There're asking whether it's been pressed. You can respond or not.
:gossip: what makes you think Bill is the seller?
Who cares who the seller is? The seller can answer or not. I don't know why the seller wouldn't though. The buyer's paid.
Care or not, I was pointing out that I'm not sure that the reference to Bill being the seller was a given (Thumbs u

Since he posted a "Note from buyer", I would find it safe to assume he was the seller.

Especially since he's done with the topic and won't return to clarify anything, so we can say whatever we want without consequence. (thumbs u

Well the buyer did say professional presser..., ?

I find it funny that Tupenny is CFP which Joeypost is also CFP. Joeypost has a fairly known pressing business. Tupenny also is known to disclose if a book has been pressed, proactively at that. Therefore I would assume that if the book were pressable and there was gain to be had, it would have been done. So lol at asking if the book was pressable.

Here's a little known fact. JUST cause you are a CFP member, and JUST cause you either know someone who presses, or own a press yourself, does not automatically mean you Press every book in sight.

I didnt elude to every book in sight. You are assuming now. And thats not nice. Notice I said Tupenny discloses, the buyer should KNOW if the book was pressed. I like you Jive, but dont make it seem like I said anything other than what I said.

I sent some of my books to Matt Nelson to be pressed/slabbed. I thought professional pressing wasn't considered restoration.

Uh oh. What faux pas have I committed now?

:roflmao:

You're about to find out in 5....4....3....

Well hopefully nothing...but if the wind is blowing the wrong way today...it could be the equivalent act of telling the crowd below "I just aborted my baby. I thought abortion was considered legal."

Oops. Well, I haven't got any of those books back yet. But when I do, I guess I have to state that they were pressed.

But CGC doesn't count it as restore. Are people questioning Matt Nelson relationship with CGC... sorry if I blundered into a hornet's nest with my d*ck out, but I'd like to learn about this.

Forgiven.

Now help derail the BS and tell us what you sent.

Well, I had to go ahead and start out with the best, naturally (slaps forehead)

Amazing 194 (I'm a big Black Cat fan)

and

Amazing 300.

The latter will likely rate 9.8, the former.... I don't know, certainly above 9.4

I have no plans to sell these however. The only books I sell are either my own raw copies, from when I worked at the "collectors Den" back in the 80s, or cheap slabbed books I find and resell.

I guess I will have my Ultimate Spider-Man 1-5 slabbed without pressing!
