Selling it all?

Well, I have reached a point in my col, lecting where I can no longer afford to grade nor continue buying issues (new or back issues). I feel that if I cannot keep buying issues then I am no longer collecting and I am just storing or hoarding whichever is the prefered term. Plus, with another child on the way and us needing to find and move into a bigger home it seems one of my only choices is to liquidate my collection, this will also alleviate the need for extra storage space and moving hassles. The real question is do I break up everything and get rid of it all or do I try and keep certain prizes? I am leanign towards getting rid of it all. With that decided what is the best way sell in lump collection, pieces of collection or singles? Oh well, guess I will figure it out along the way.

On a side note if anyone sees anything they would like of the stuff I have listed on the CGC site make an offer and I will consider it. I will be putting stuff up on ebay as fast as time permits but first I must go through the whole collection (which includes alot of ungraded comics) and figure out decent auction prices and such.

Thanks to all for providing a great community to be a part of and also the competitive parts of collecting on this site as well.

I used to collect baseball cards years ago, and when I decided to liquidate I faced the same decision: keep some prized cards (after all, how much space does it take to keep 10 valuable cards?!) or sell them all.

I found that it was easier to sell them all. Keeping some prizes only served as a reminder of what I had given up or lost. By selling off the last ones: (even my Munson and Reggie Jackson rookies) I found myself freed.

I don't know if others would have the same experience, but I dare say that they may.

I think about it frequently. I don't relish the thought of trying to move 80+ (mostly short) boxes. I've done it three times and don't want to do it again.

If I could trim it down to no more than 10, that would be ideal. 'Course my wife would change the 10 to 0 lol:(

Well I will be saving the spideys for last at the moment maybe saving them for never. I do have a lot to go through and I can see your point about remembering what you once had. Its going to be a long process anyhow since I have over 3000 comics in my collection and my brother has decided to hand over his small collection as well to be sold off (mostly because he can't get to my house to pick up his personal effects that have been left here).

Hope that wasn't a freudian slip!

Well, there's something to be said for picking one specific subgroup and focusing on that!
