Might take 10 years to straighten it that way. To do it in 30 minutes.

Get 2 completely flat ceramic floor tiles, from a lowes or home depot. About $1 each.

Bake them in the oven to anywhere from 200 to 300 degrees (experiment with your oven).

Take them out and make a sandwich like this:

- Your big stack of books, or some other 100 or so pounds (feel free to sit on it for added weight)

- A hot tile, flat side toward book

- Page of Silicone transfer paper (ever use a page of laser printer labels, what you have left is the silicone paper, white shiny, kind of like teflon so the stickers can peel off)

- your comic

- Base, you might not want to put the hot tile directly on the floor, use a pine board or whatever you need to in order to protect the floor.

Once assembled sit on it and wait for 2 minutes. Then retrieve your book, it should be flat now. If it is not you may not have had the tile hot enough, or you may not have had the weight on it long enough. The book will flatten very quickly once it comes to temperature.

If you do not use a non-stick buffer you will lift color right off of the covers, almost like silly putty. It is essential to have a non-stick buffer.

I recommend that anybody trying to press a book in this fashion first experiment with several worthless books that you care nothing about. Once you have a system down it will work quite well. Also it keep in mind it may be a very bad idea to press old fragile books.

Good luck.
